Bath Remodeling - Where Do You Start?

The bath is a place of rest and luxury for many people (men included). There are so many things that one can do with a bath to make it the part of your home that is really enjoyed. This article will attempt to expose you to some of the many options you have in bath remodeling.

Refinish the Tub

One of the most popular bath remodeling projects known today is the bath refinishing project. This is a project that one can do them selves, but a professional will get it doe much quicker and more efficient most of the time. You can often find kits in your local home improvement stress or online.

Call the Local Painter

One bath remodeling project that can add value and beauty to a bath is to have some nice decorations painted onto your bath. You may be ale to find a local artist that had the ability to paint just what you are looking for. They may not even have the experience of doing such a project, but could find the correct paint for the surface by checking with a local plumbing supply.

Add Some Expensive Faucets

The water faucet is one of the most elegant parts of a bath, yet over looked way too often. Yes, they are expensive for a nice one, but they add so much to a bath remodeling project. You should visit some show rooms that have bath setups on display to see just how nice a beautiful tall faucet might look.

When considering a bath remodeling project one must think about the age of their bath. Also, you should ask if this will be a final bath or do you plan to sell in the future. The answers to these question may determine how much you ant o spend towards your bath remodeling projects.

Mud Bath

Mud or clay bath is another mode of treatment. It is applied in the same way as packs, but only on a larger scale on the entire body. In this, mud or clay is first ground and sifted to remove all impurities, and then made into a smooth paste mixed with hot water. The paste is then spread on a sheet which in turn is wrapped round the body. One or two blankets are then wrapped over this, depending on the temperature of the room and that of the pack. A mud bath is followed with a cleansing warm water bath and a short cold shower.

The mud bath is found to tone up the skin by increasing the circulation and energising the skin tissues. Frequent mud baths help to improve the complexion, clear spots and patches on the skin following skin disorders or due to smallpox. It is very beneficial in the treatment of skin diseases like psoriasis, leucoderma and every leprosy.

This bath is also valuable in getting relief from rheumatic pain or pain in the joints caused by injuries. The duration of the bath should be from 30 minutes to one hour. Care should also be taken to avoid the patient catching a chill during the bath. Mud applications also form a vital part of natural beauty treatment.

Home Spa Bath Salts

Bath salts refer to the range of water-soluble mineral products designed for adding to your home spa in order to improve your spa experience. A leisurely soak in your home spa containing relaxing and soothing bath salts is one of the most exhilarating experiences in the world. A long soak in water filled with bath salts can do much more than cleanse your body. It can also have a soothing healing effect on your mind and spirit.

Whether you have sore, tired and aching feet and legs from standing all day long at your workplace or a stiff back from sitting in front of your computer for long hours, a soak in your home spa with bath salts in it can drastically change the way you feel and can drive away your tensions. Not only do bath salts lend captivating fragrances to your home spa, they offer many healing benefits too.

For example, you might be surprised to learn that adding a small amount of some bath salts to your home spa can improve your blood circulation. Bath salts also reduce the tenderness in the muscles. Bath salts are specially recommended for people suffering from back pain, arthritis, muscle tension, spasms and minor injuries.

Bath salts open up the clogged skin pores and drive out the dirt and toxins, leaving your skin clean, soft, supple and radiant. Bath salts can also help in some skin conditions like irritation due to insect bites, minor rashes, corns, etc. High-quality bath salts may also help improve the appearance of scars.

Bath salts containing aromatic bath oils offer the added benefit of aromatherapy. The pleasant, soothing fragrances are known to induce calmness and boost relaxation. Fragrant bath salts combine these attributes with other healing properties. The ability to relax and unwind at the end of the day ensures sound sleep at night and bath salts can definitely help with that.

Bath salts are also good for exfoliation. Gently rub an exfoliating bath salt over your feet, knees and elbows with a damp towel. Rinse the exfoliated areas thoroughly before taking a dip in your home spa. Fresh, newly exposed skin will also benefit from soaking in water treated with bath salts.

Spa Bath Salt Melissa

Moya's classic Melissa bath salt contains a rich special lemon Melissa extract and Indian Cymbopogon Winterianus. It induces calmness, relaxation, mental comfort, and easy sleep. It is also good for exfoliation of corneous skin and rejuvenates the skin by increasing its elasticity.

Spa Bath Salt Lemon

This bath salt is rich in natural minerals and is specially crystallized from Mediterranean lemon acid and bergamot along with hot spring salt. It is good for cleansing and exfoliating the skin; also, its astringent action tightens the skin.

Spa Bath Salt Seaweed

This bath salt is derived from valuable brown seaweed and contains a rich combination of natural vitalized minerals and precious seaweed gel. Soaking oneself in a home spa containing seaweed bath salt after jogging or heavy physical exercises restores the lost minerals, and rejuvenates and soothes sore muscles by stimulating blood circulation. The seaweed bath salt also has excellent anti-bacterial, skin toning and skin exfoliating properties.

The magical healing effect of soaking in water containing bath salts is something you have to experience to believe.

Anime Bath - A Very Unique & Individual Approach to Bathroom Decor

Anime bath can mean a bathroom decorated with one or more anime bath characters from a whole range of character figures. Characters like the Flash or Batman or Superman for folks who like their anime bath characters from a farther back period. Current anime bath characters could include Trigun Vash or Wolfwood from the classic 1998 anime series.

Your bathroom décor can reflect just about any side of your personality, any of your "likes" such as anime bath accessories. Doing a search online for anime bath accessories using the name of your preferred character can result in some interesting results. For instance, I was able to find a set of Trigun Vash or Wolfwood bath towels. Now, what bathroom is complete without a set of these anime bath accessories?

Although one would probably think of children's bathrooms first when thinking of an anime bath, there are a number of adults whose "Football Team" accessorized bathrooms would qualify as an anime bath. And how about "Wrestling Fan" anime bath or "NASCAR Fan" anime bath?

The range of characterizations that can be represented in your unique anime bath are endless. If you like a popular figure, either "real" or animated, you can probably find accessories in that figure's image and this certainly qualifies you as having an anime-influenced bath.

Children's bathrooms are probably more suited as anime baths. Their heros are probably of an animated variety, thus making the concept of children's bathrooms more likely to be decorated and furnished as anime baths. If you are decorating a bathroom for a child, you will definitely score major points for creating anime baths in their favourite character's image.

What a marvellous result - a happy child - with something so creative yet so simple as a present of an anime bath!

Neutral Immersion Bath

This bath can be given from 15 to 60 minutes at a temperature ranging from 260C to 280C. It can be given for long duration, without any ill-effects, as the water temperature is akin to the body temperature. The neutral bath diminishes the pulse rate without modifying respiration.

This treatment is the best sedative. Since the neutral bath excites activity of both the skin and the kidneys, it is recommended in cases relating to these organs. It is also beneficial for cases of organic diseases of the brain and spinal cord, including chronic inflammatory conditions such as meningitis, rheumatism and arthritis.

A neutral immersion bath taken for 30 to 60 minutes is highly beneficial in general dropsy, due to cardiac or renal diseases. It also helps those suffering from multiple neuritis, alcoholism and other narcotic habits, chronic diarrhoea, peritonitis and chronic affections of the abdomen. In such cases the bath may be given daily for 15 to 30 minutes.

This bath is also useful in the toxemic conditions caused by dyspepsia and pruritus. The neutral bath should not be prescribed in certain cases of eczema and other forms of skin diseases where water aggravates the symptoms, nor in cases of extreme cardiac weakness.

Bath Accessories - Disney Princesses and More

Kids' bath accessories make up a huge part of the total market for bath accessories. Kids' bath accessories of sea and beach themes are big. The Little Mermaid bath accessories continue to be popular (2007). Penguin bath accessories and rubber ducky items are fun, too.

Disney princesses on bath accessories, however, seem to be a classic. Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmine, Aurora, and Sleeping Beauty – every little girl wants to be a Disney princess at some time. And many want bathrooms with Disney princesses on bath accessories.

Fairytale Spa

Disney princesses on bath accessories can turn a little girl's bath into a fairytale spa. After you paint the walls Bibbidi Bobbidi Blue, hang a dreamy Disney princess shower curtain. Shower curtain hooks come in hearts of pink, each heart framing a Disney princess face.

Find Disney princesses on bath accessories like these, too:

1. Disney princess plastic waste can

2. Disney princess towel set

3. Disney princess dispenser, soap dish, and toothbrush holder

4. Disney princess bath rug

The Disney princesses on bath accessories are not all the same. You can choose from the "Love's First Kiss" collection, "Forever" collection, or "Stardust" collection. Chances are good that your little girl has a favorite.

With Bedroom to Match

Adults tend to think a small bathroom full of Disney princesses is enough, but little girls may want to carry the theme into the bedroom, too. A good idea is to use the same basic color scheme, but fewer princesses.

Not a Princess

Some little girls may think Disney princesses are fine, but they would rather not have Disney princesses on bath accessories. They would rather have ballerina bath accessories – or "Backyardigans" bath accessories.

Kids' Bath Accessories in Sea Themes

Kids' bath accessories must take a different turn if the bathroom is to be shared with a boy. While you could add a Prince Charming, it might be better to create something entirely different.

Kids' bath accessories in sea themes are a good option. With careful planning, you could combine the Little Mermaid bath accessories and Finding Nemo bath accessories, as long as you keep each to a minimum.

Begin with a shower curtain featuring a sea and beach theme: seashells on an off-white background. Use bright fish curtain hooks.

For safety, apply fish-shaped no-slip appliqués to the bathtub floor. Add one mermaid. Purchase her towel set with the Little Mermaid design, his with a Finding Nemo design.

Hang fish and mermaid robe hooks on the door or wall. Use similar hooks for towels. Surround a plain mirror with alternating fish and mermaids, and hang it at the children's level.

The Little Mermaid bath accessories and Finding Nemo bath accessories can identify whose tumbler is whose, and keep individual soap separate.

Use plastic bath accessories for safety.

Other Children's Bath Accessories

Other themes for children's bath accessories might include these:

1. Jungle: Use green – perhaps a wallpaper jungle mural on one wall. Hang a couple of live plants. Use wild animal bath accessories: monkey, leopard, bear, elephant, etc. Add safari tan towels.

2. Rubber Ducky: This is a bright, clean theme. Rubber ducky bath accessories are easy to find. Use soft, vivid colors. Blue sets off yellow duckies.

3. Pond: Think green frogs, yellow duckies, lily pads, and water lilies. You might include a fish aquarium with other bath accessories that feature the relaxation of a garden pond.

Disney princesses on bath accessories or penguins and dolphins, all can be used to create a place that children will enjoy.

Detoxify Your Body In 30 Minutes With A Bath

Dealing with all of the environmental toxins today, can be quite aload on the body. A simple way to help combat these toxins is to take a detoxification bath. In spas today, the use of water therapy is very popular. Bathing in waters containg various healing ingrediants can help to release toxins, promote energy, circulation and well being.

This bath can be done in your very own bathtub and does not require special equipment. Hot water helps draw toxins out of the body to the skin’s surface. When the water cools, it pulls toxins from the skin. The ocean, mineral, hot springs and herbal baths have been used for centuries world wide, for their therapeutic effects.

This is the simple recipe that I regularly use to help combat toxins and detoxify my body:

  • 1 cup Epsom salts

  • 1/2 cup Baking Soda

  • About 1/2 cup Powdered Ginger

Pour Epsom salt or Baking Soada, and ginger into a warm bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. After soaking, scrub the skin gently with a natural fiber like a cotton washcloth or a loofah sponge for 5 minutes. Do not remain in the tub for more than 30 minutes. Note the "murky"appearance of the water, this is due to the toxins released in your bath water. Wrap yourself in a large towel or bathrobe and then cover up with a warm blanket. You will sweat for about an hour. The next morning you will feel fantastic!

You can take a detoxification bath often, or at least once a month. In addition to detoxifying the body, this bath is also helps relieve pain.

What Type of Bath Tub Is Better For Your Bathroom?

So, you feel like purchasing a new bath tub but don’t know what design or type of tubs you should be opting for. Well, a bath tub is certainly the largest item that you put in your bathroom. And that is why it is essential that your bath tub conform to the bathroom design. Let us have a look at some of the tubs that you could choose from.

Cast Iron Bath Tubs

This kind of bath tub can be very expensive and if you are thinking of antique ones, the price can even higher. But when you have such a bath tub in your bathroom, it shows pure luxury and elegance. If you already have a cast iron bath tub, you should contact your local dealer first. You might find out that your old bath tub is actually worth something. You can sell your old one to a second hand store or even through a garage sale. As the popularity of cast iron bath tubs is increasing, it is actually a good idea to get your old cast iron bath tub renovated, rather than replacing it. This might be done at your home or you might get the bath tub transported to the service station. But it won’t be that easy as cast iron bath tubs are very heavy.

Modern Bath Tubs

Most of the modern bath tubs are made of steel, plastic and acrylic. The best thing about modern tubs is that they are very light yet they are very durable and tough. Due to plastic and acrylic materials, the bath tubs are so light that even one person can carry it. If bath tubs are made of steel, it would take at least two persons to carry it. Another feature of these modern bath tubs is that they can be made into different shapes and designs. These can have matching taps, panels and color patterns.

Circular Bath Tubs

The very first thing that you would need, if you want a circular bath tub in your bathroom, would be a large enough space. When you have a circular bath tub in your bathroom, it really makes your bathroom worth taking a look. The only thing needed would be conforming interior designs and then see the difference it brings!

Space Saving Bath Tubs

If space has always been the problem in your bathroom, you can have a bath tub that is specifically designed to maximize space. The thing is that the tub is designed in such a way that it takes very little wall space. It would provide space for shelves or a towel warmer. Since, it comes in a variety of colors, themes and sizes, you can have your pick as per your bathroom interiors.

Regular Bath Tubs

As the name suggests, regular bath tubs are the most common and the most inexpensive ones. This rectangular shaped bath tub can fit in any bathroom with any theme or design. You can get these bath tubs in different lengths as per your requirements.

I hope this piece of information on bath tubs will help you in deciding which one to pick for yourself and make your bathroom look one-of-a-kind!

The Splash List: Getting Ready for Your Baby's First Bath

I was scared to give my baby her first bath, but being totally prepared made it a smooth and special event! After bathing her and two newborns after her I'm a pro, but that basic set-up is still essential to newborn bathing success!

Here's what you should have on hand as you prepare to bathe your little one in those hazy early days, and a step-by-step way to keep him sweet and clean:

For a Sponge Bath

  • A soft, thick towel to wrap your baby in.

  • Several fresh washcloths - adult or baby sized.

  • Cotton balls or additional fresh washcloths.

  • A basin of warm, clean water.

  • A very mild, all-natural baby soap.

  • An all-natural baby oil, almond, or olive oil (optional).

  • Fresh clothes, booties, diaper, and a hat.

    For a Tub Bath

Gather together all the supplies you would need for a sponge bath, with the exception of the basin of water. For a tub bath you have several tub choices:

  • Take your baby into the big tub with you.

  • Use a special baby tub sitting inside your tub or on the counter.

  • Use a soft fabric reclining seat in your bathtub.

  • Bathe your baby in the sink.

  • Bathe your baby in a clean bucket or plastic container.

Now it's time to bathe your little one!

  • Take off your baby's clothes and wrap him or her in the towel.

  • If you're giving a sponge bath, uncover the half of your baby you're washing.

  • If you're giving a tub bath dip your baby in the water – support your baby under the arms. Have somebody hand her to you if you're taking her in the tub with you, and lean her back against your legs, facing you.

  • Put a tiny amount of soap on one washcloth and gently bathe your baby's arms and legs, hands and feet.

  • Bathe his belly and then his back, being sure to get into creases under arms and in the folds of the neck.

  • Bathe your baby's genitals carefully, cleaning in creases. Wash from front to back.

  • Get a fresh washcloth and gently wipe your baby’s face and around (not in) her ears.

  • Wash his head and hair gently, but don’t be afraid to wash over his soft spots.

  • Use a fresh washcloth or a cotton ball to wipe your baby's eyes clean. Wipe from the inside of the eye to the outside. Use a fresh cotton ball or corner of the washcloth with each eye. Use another fresh cotton ball or wash cloth to clean around her nose if you need to.

  • Wrap your baby up in the thick towel to warm and dry him.

  • If you'd like to use an all-natural oil on your baby’s skin, now is a good time to do it. Like with the sponge bath, keep most of your baby covered while you apply the oil. Massage your baby at this time if you’d like.

  • Dress your little one and you're done!

    Epsom Salt Bath

The immersion bath tub should be filled with about 135 litres of hot water at 400C. One to 1 1/2 kg. of Epsom salt should be dissolved in this water. The patient should drink a glass of cold water, cover the head with a cold towel and then lie down in the tub, completely immersing the trunk, thighs and legs for 15 to 20 minutes.

The best time to take this bath is just before retiring to bed. This is useful in cases of sciatica, lumbago, rheumatism, diabetes, neuritis, cold and catarrh, kidney disorders, and other uric acid and skin affections.

    Precaution

Certain precautions are necessary while taking these therapeutic baths. Full baths should be avoided within three hours after a meal and one hour before it. Local baths like the hip bath and foot bath may, however, be taken two hours after a meal. Clean and pure water must be used for baths and water once used should not be used again. While taking baths, temperature and duration should be strictly observed to obtain the desired effects. A thermometer should always be used to measure the temperature of the body.

Women should not take any of the baths during menstruation. They can take only hip baths during pregnancy till the completion of the third month.

    Baby Bath Time

Baby’s day out is fun from A to Z, regardless of what the baby does. All the time the child may be enjoying himself and his activities will also be a treat for parents to observe.

Why let this fun end when bathing the child? With some application of mind, you could make baby bathing an interesting activity for the child, and hence for yourself as well. All you need on hand are a few baby-bathing products, bath toys, and robes that are not only baby skin friendly, but also handy bathroom accessories any mom would love to stock her bathroom with.

    Baby Bath Products and Accessories

Baby bathing products or accessories are numerous, but there is one item that is most essential – the baby bath towel or baby bath robe. A baby bath towel or robe must be soft on the child’s skin. If the child shows some discomfort while you use it on him, assume your child has not taken a kind view towards the new accessory and it is paining or irritating his skin. Also, the bath robes or towels must be sufficiently large so that it can easily and fully wrap around the baby. If the bathrobe has interesting pictures of animals and birds, it may help your child to remain inside the robe for at least some time. Usually the soft cotton hooded towel sets cater to children right from their newborn days to 12-24 months, depending on the child’s size. Such towel sets also make great baby gift items. It is quite possible to find all of these items on the net from sites such as SpiffyBaby.com where imagination is your boundary.

    Baby Skin Care

The same theory of baby skin friendly concept applies to baby soaps, lotions, oils, and toys. While purchasing baby soaps and baby lotions ensure that they are sensitive enough for baby’s skin and do not contain any potential skin irritants. In that sense, if you see artificial or synthetic ingredients in baby skin products, you may want to avoid them. These products can cause terrible skin irritations.

The major task of baby’s bath time, however, remains to be baby’s entertainment in the bath tub. The baby most likely won’t like anyone to disturb his playful mood by pouring water over him in the confines of a bath tub. This is where bath toys play a crucial role, in ensuring that the playful atmosphere indeed carries over to the baby bathroom, giving the little ones full company all throughout the bathing ritual. Bath duckies, rubber animals and shapes, baby bath seats, bubble bath buddies (for kids of certain age), even the bath water thermometer, are some good bath time toys that could give your child good company in the bathroom. These items usually make decent baby shower presents, as well as being relatively low-cost items.

Above all, the most important thing for a child during bath time is the interaction with his caregivers, and the presence of an adult for safety at all times.

    Steam Bath

Steam bath is one of the most important time-tested water treatments which induces perspiration in a most natural way. The patient, clad in minimum loin cloth or underwear, is made to sit on a stool inside a specially designed cabinet. Before entering the cabinet, the patient should drink one or two glasses of cold water and protect the head with a cold towel. The duration of the steam bath is generally 10 to 20 minutes or until perspiration takes place. A cold shower should be taken immediately after the bath.

Very weak patients, pregnant women, cardiac patients, and those suffering from high blood pressure should avoid this bath. If the patient feels giddy or uneasy during the steam bath, he or she should be immediately taken out and given a glasss of cold water and the face washed with cold water.

The steam bath helps to eliminate morbid matter from the surface of the skin. It also improves circulation of the blood and tissue activity. It relieves rheumatism, gout, uric acid problems, and obesity. The steam bath is helpful in all forms of chronic toxemias. It also relieves neuralgias, chronic nephritis, infections, tetanus, and migraine.

Towel Folds and Other Towel Tricks

Towels, we all have them. Some of them are taking up space or some are just old and dingy. Ever wonder how to fold your towels so they don't take up much space, or how about towels as a gift? Well here are some useful tips and tricks for your everyday item, your towels.

    Common Towel Fold

Use a flat surface to lay the towel out lengthwise.

Fold the towel in thirds lengthwise. Make sure to keep the edges as even as possible.

Fold the towel in half lengthwise.

Fold the towel in half again.

Now to make this into a gift, tie a nice satin ribbon around the stack and tie a nice bow.

Have older towels? Well, use these to mop your floors. All you need to do is fold your towel in half, place it in a clamp handle mop and cut the cloth into strips, and tada you have a good mop.

Make a baby towel by sewing a washcloth onto a bath towel. What you do is fold the washcloth in half, then tuck the folded section in to make a "V". Sew the bottom of the cloth at the edge of the length of your bath towel.

Have a decorative suitcase, why not display your guest towels in them? Roll up your guest's hand towels, wash- cloths, and large bath towels and arrange them in the suitcase and leave it open in the guest room where they can find them easily.

For a large mixing bowel that slips on your counter top, to prevent it, place a damp towel under it.

    Fancy folded hand towels

Lay your hand towel out with the tag facing down. Fold the bottom about a third of the way up. Turn your towel over and fold one side a third of the way over, fold the other side on top and tuck in the ends. Flip the towel over and hang on your towel rack. For a finishing touch add a fan folded wash cloth. For a fan folded wash cloth, lay it down tag side down and flip about an inch of the side over and repeat all the way to the end of your wash cloth. When finished tuck this fan into the pocket of your hanging hand towel. This can also be done to large bath towels, so instead of a washcloth you fan fold a hand towel and place it in the pocket.

    Fancy Roll For Towels

To create a roll for a fancy touch, turn a wash cloth (also works for bath towels and hand towels), tag side down, fold one corner into the center, then overlap the other side. Start from the bottom and flip the end over, roll your towel tightly all the way up. Arrange in your closet, your decorative suitcase, or on display in a nice basket on your bathroom sink.

Keep your towels fresh and plush by adding a cup of white vinegar while washing them. There you have it, from a common fold to a fancy fold, for baby or your floors, you can find many things to do with your towels (not just taking up space anymore).

    Cold Immersion Bath

This may be taken for four seconds to 20 minutes at a temperature ranging from 100C to 23.80C. Before entering the bath, cold water should be poured on the patient’s head, chest, and neck and the head should be protected with a cold moist towel. During the bath, the patient should vigorously rub his or her body. After the bath the body should be quickly dried and wrapped up in a blanket. Top Tips For Buying Bath Towels

As much work and effort as you've put into your bathroom it's never complete without one important, almost essential, accessory. What is that? The bath towel of course! The bathroom towel is more than a mere accessory... it's an essential item for every single bathroom in the world. Your bathroom should be as comfortable as possible in every sense of the word and this includes quality, comfortable bath towels in all shapes and sizes.

Most people just see a towel as something use to dry yourself after a bath, shower or even shaving. Towels mean a bit more than that though; people can be very particular about their towels - almost to excess at times. The look, feel and shape of the towel are always important - if you're really honest with yourself. You need to ask yourself the question - "What type of towel person are you?". Are you the type that likes the soft, velvety terry towels or do you much prefer a rougher towel to rub yourself down with after bathing? This is something to really consider before you go out and buy a new towel bale.

When looking for new towels there are two basic types to pick from - the hand towel and the bath towel. A hand towel is a small towel normally kept near a sink in a bathroom or small separate toilet. It's just a small convenient towel for your family or guests to dry their hands on. They just make more sense in the small spaces surrounding a sink and are less awkward to handle than a large bath towel.

Now we can have a look at the actual bath towel itself. These come in all shapes and sizes with something to suit every taste and every budget. It's important to look at your current bathroom decor and then mentally picture what type of towel would suit the room. If you've spent time and money on redecorating your bathroom then why spoil it by adding cheap, color mismatched towels to the room? If you shop clever then a great idea is to buy a towel bale that has the same shape and style of towel in several sizes - your hand towels and bath towels will match in every room!

Buying a quality bath towel will also save you money in the long run. Cheaper bath towels tend to wear faster - that is they tend to fall apart after several months. You shouldn't ever cut corners when buying something so personal as a bath towel.

There are dozens of great online stores to find bath towels in so why not start looking today?

Helpful Tips To Make Bath Time Easier And More Fun For Both You And Your Baby

If you were like me, you were probably bathed in a sink lined with a towel, well those days are long gone.

For the first couple of weeks of your new baby's life, you won't have to worry about bathing your baby. Bathing your little one doesn't start until the umbilical cord stump falls off and all has healed. During that time you will just gently sponge bathe your baby.

Most new parents develop anxiety when it comes to bathing their newborn and rightfully so, drowning is a major cause of infant/child deaths.

Safety Tips on Bathing Your Baby:

    1. First and Foremost, NEVER leave your child unattended in water for even a second.

    2. Bath Water should be between 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit.

    3. Always test the water with your elbow or thermometer.

    4. Do not leave a baby or toddler in a bathtub or in water under the care of a young child.

    5. Have all supplies needed to bathe your baby within arms reach in front of you.

Supplies You need while bathing your baby include:

    1. Hooded Towel

    2. Washcloth or sponge

    3. Baby shampoo

    4. Baby Wash

    5. Have new diaper and clothes ready

There are many baby bath tubs available today which helps make bathing your baby easier and less stressful. You will find that most baby bath tubs cost between $15.00 and $30.00 and by manufacturers such as Evenflo, The First Years, Graco and Safety First. An advantage of using a baby tub is the fact that it keeps your baby in a confined area and easier to manage.

You will want to purchase a baby tub that features:

    1. A contour design and slip resistant padded liner which helps support and keep your baby from sliding around.

    2. A slip resistant bottom to keep the tub from moving.

    3. Mildew-resistant foam pad.

    4. Made of thick, sturdy plastic.

    5. Indented section at one end for bathing supplies.

    6. A plug for easy draining.

    7. Avoid bath rings and bath seats. These can tip over easily and lead to drowning.

Even though your baby may not be happy about being bathed and may squirm and cry at first, once your little one gets use to it, bath time will help create a wonderful bond between you and your baby.

Bath Decor – How To Design a Bathroom That Is Truly Yours Through Bath Decor

Bath décor – nothing is more beautiful (to me at least) than a room that is “perfect”. The correct room design, the correct furnishings and let us not omit its décor. A room that is pleasing to the senses – beautiful, luxurious, a pleasure to be in. A room designed to be lived in. Those are beautiful rooms to me and one than can stand out through its bath décor is obviously the remodelled bathroom.

A bathroom has such potential for dramatic bath décor and this is something that can be utilized to increase a home’s selling price or increase the joy experienced in living in it.

Some of my favourite examples of dramatic bath décor are:

    1) Skylights – Nothing adds more elegance, more panache to a bathroom than a gorgeous skylight contained in a vaulted two-story ceiling. Accentuated with a low hanging paddle fan perhaps.

    2) Lighting – This often overlooked method can be used to obtain the functional lighting levels that are required in a modern remodelled bathroom but please realize the opportunity you have with the bathroom’s bath décor if you incorporate a stunning light fixture of some kind. Decorative generally works best around the mirror(s) with recessed ceiling mount lighting fixtures providing the utilitarian lighting levels needed for general overall illumination.

    3) Plumbing Fixtures – These consist of:

    a. Your Tub/Shower Unit - is it an antique-looking unit to be accessorized with the same type of faucets and towel bars or modern to be paired with modern accessories?

    b. Your Sink Unit – Do you want a common sink & vanity cabinet or will you opt for a stunning free-standing pedestal based unit?

    4) Wallpaper and paint – These are two of the old standbys; utilize them in conjunction with your other bath décor opportunities and your remodelled bathroom will be a stunning victory over the mundane!

By integrating these different opportunities to make your bath décor your very own, you can design and create stunning bathrooms for very little money, depending on your exact bath décor.

Trendy Bath Furniture Delivers Instant Storage

The trends in bath furniture have changed drastically. No longer is the bathroom just for bathing and other essential personal care. Along with the basic functions, the bathroom has become a place for rest and relaxation. Newly designed bathrooms are larger than ever before. However, if you’re looking for ways to improve your smaller bathroom and increase storage space there’s great new bath furniture to supply just what you want.

Today’s bath furniture is designed to handle the extra moisture, yet it looks much like furniture you’d find in other rooms of your home. For example, a bathroom hutch made from warp resistant wood, provides two paneled doors and molding designed to match any décor. Inside you’ll find four shelves (three adjustable) perfect for storing towels, bed linens, and other bathroom accessories in one neatly organized hutch.

If you’re looking for ways to further increase storage space in a smaller bathroom, try bath furniture that’s designed to be wall mounted. The wall is often an overlooked space that’s perfect for creating new storage. A bath cabinet with towel bars can provide much needed storage for personal care items and provides easy access to towels.

Shelving is another way to use the walls to increase storage space. A small bath pedestal cabinet with shelving overhead provides extra storage as well as counter space to display bath accessories.

Don’t overlook the space above the commode. You’ll find trendy new bath furniture like the Bath Etagre designed to fit perfectly over your commode. Glass paneled doors cover shelving and an open shelf sits atop the commode. You’ll be amazed at all the new storage space you’ll have with this Etagre designed to match any décor.

These are just a few ways to increase storage space and liven up your existing bathroom. It’s a good idea to do an overall inventory of your current bathroom and decide how you might increase storage with these trendy new items. It may help to do a simple drawing of your current bath and determine where you might move or place new items.

By spending a little time planning and reviewing the space and your options, you’ll be surprised at how much you can improve your storage space with bath furniture.

    Hot Immersion Bath

This bath can be taken from two to 15 minutes at a temperature from 36.60C to 400C. Generally this bath is started at 370C and the temperature is then gradually raised to the required level by adding hot water. Before entering the bath, the patient should drink cold water and also wet the head, neck and shoulders with cold water. A cold compress should be applied throughout the treatment. This bath can be advantageously employed in dropsy when there is excessive loss of tone of the heart and blood. This bath also relieves capillary bronchitis and bronchial pneumonia in children. It relieves congestation of the lungs and activates the blood vessels of the skin muscles. The bath should be terminated as soon as the skin becomes red.

In pneumonia and suppressed menstruation, the bath should be administered at 37.70C to 400C for about 30 to 45 minutes. This bath should be given when the menstruation is due and may be repeated for two to three days in succession. In dysmenorrhoea, this bath should be given at 380C to 44.40C for 15 minutes.

In chronic bronchitis a very hot bath taken for 5 to 7 minutes should be accompanied with rubbing and friction. This relieves congestion of the mucous membrane and provides immediate relief After the bath, oil should be applied to the skin if necessary.

The hot bath is a valuable treatment in chronic rheumatism and obesity. It gives immediate relief when there is pain due to stones in the gall bladder and the kidneys. The hot bath should not be taken in cases of organic diseases of the brain or spinal cord, nor in cases of cardiac weakness and cardiac hypertrophy.

    Hot New Towel Warmers

The origins of cast iron water heated towel warmers referred to as radiators, dates back to the 1920’s, but were quickly phased out during the Depression era and when the economy eventually picked up never made a strong comeback until recently. When the mid 90’s approached, homeowners began incorporating new technologically advanced towel warmers into their bathroom remodeling projects due to the warm luxurious nature both electric and water heated towels rails bring about in today’s bathrooms. The feeling of wrapping yourself in a warm toasty towel after stepping out of a bath or shower provides a soothing sensation rather than a cold damp just used towel.

With the reintroduction of the heated towel warmer spawned a vast selection of styles and finishes not only for the bathroom, but are now being installed in bedrooms, mudrooms and basements for added heat and as a way to reduce moisture and mildew. Hydronic heated towel warmer models use hot water from either your domestic hot water heater or hydronic system which requires the use of a circulating pump in order to warm the towel rails. Electric self-contained rail warmers are oil filled, once plugged it the oil begins heating and since they have low wattage heating elements they are a safe and economical way of bringing warmth to any room. The beauty of these paneled radiators whether electric or hydronic are great for those chilling winter months for warming blankets and drying wet winter clothing.

    Fashionable Heated Towel Rails

The combination of design and practically are both appealing with a wide variety to choose from that take up little floor and wall space making it easy to custom coordinate the sleek look of these towel heaters in to any bathroom décor. Contemporary column designs to the traditional radiator styles have been ingeniously recreated to look more like a fashion piece of furniture adding to ambiance of your bathroom. The craftsmanship and design of the heaters allows pipes, radiator valves and fitting to be concealed for a clean uncluttered look as are electrical towel rails equipped with only a plug. The innovational architecture from spiral, curved or ladder types, the towel warmers are available in a number of dimensional sizes, colors and rail designs with chrome finishes leading the way for an aesthetically pleasing display.

With plenty of heating power, the decorative railed towel warmers are a possible alternative for warming any room in your home. Along with a multitude of styles and designs comes the offering of power, the BTU’s, British Thermal Unit, and power wattage are far more efficient and economical than typical base board heaters making them a hot ticket item for both bathroom manufacturers and retailers.

Towel Animal Puppy Stars In Popular Carnival Cruise Commercial

Have you seen the latest Carnival Cruise commercial? In the mornin', in the evenin', ain't we got fun?... Carnival is currently celebrating it's 35th year in operation and maintains it's status as the world's largest cruise operator. But what's the big deal about their latest commercial?

Well, at the very end of the commercial a child is shown going to bed with a soft, cuddly....towel? That's right, a towel. But not your ordinary towel. A towel folded into the shape of a puppy!

It's been a long-standing treat on cruise lines to come back to your cabin and be greeted by one of these adorable towel animals (aka towel origami). As a matter of fact, after the food, it seems to be one of the most memorable parts of the trip.

Cabin stewards train for more than 10 hours to learn how to make towel animals. What animals can you learn to fold with towels? How about a swan, a turtle, a snail, an elephant, a scorpion, a puppy , or even a hanging monkey.

Carnival has had so much interest in their towel animal creations that they have published a book with over 35 different towel animals. You've got to buy it from the gift shop while on board the ship though.

For others who would like to make their own towel origami, but don't have the bucks to take a cruise, books are available at many online book retailers.

It's a great way to spice up a guest bedroom, make a bed & breakfast a little more inviting, or even boost tip income if you're a part of a hotel housekeeping staff.

So the next time you see Carnival's familiar “Ain't we got fun?” commercial, consider using towel animals to have your own fun.

    Spinal Bath

The spinal bath is another important form of hydrotherapic treatment. This bath provides a soothing effect to the spinal column and thereby influences the central nervous system. It is given in a specially designed tub with its back raised so as to provide proper support to the head. The bath can be administered at cold, neutral and hot temperatures. The water level in the tub should be an inch and a half to two inches and the patient should lie in it for three to 10 minutes.

The cold spinal bath relieves irritation, fatigue, hypertension and excitement. It is beneficial in almost all nervous disorders such as hysteria, fits, mental disorders, loss of memory and tension. The neutral spinal bath is a soothing and sedative treatment, especially for the highly strung and irritable patient. It is the ideal treatment for insomnia and also relieves tension of the vertebral column. The duration of this bath is 20 to 30 minutes.

The hot spinal bath, on the other hand, helps to stimulate the nervous, especially when they are in a depressed state. It also relieves vertebral pain in spondylitis and muscular backache. It relieves sciatic pain and gastrointestinal disturbances of gastric origin.

Country Home Bath Furniture - Now Here's a Distinct Bathroom Decor

Country home bath furniture, or in other words bath furniture for a country home provokes instant images of the type of décor we're after looking for country home bath furniture. This "look" is very distinctive with the overall motif being soft, simple design lines and softer colors used in the decorating.

Country home bath furniture will probably be the type of furniture that would not be found in a "modern look" bathroom design. It could possible consist of antique fixtures and furniture. Anything "craftsy" if you will could quite possibly fill the bill as country home bath furniture.

Very often, homemade furniture and accessories are found in a bathroom decorated with country home bath furniture. The individual pieces of furniture might be simple in design or an extremely ornate country design but the furniture will most certainly be distinctive.

A bathroom with country home bath furniture could quite possibly be decorated in natural, earthy colors. Soft pastels of green, sky blue and soft browns could make up a very interesting color scheme for a bathroom with country home bath furniture.

If one is fortunate enough to have room for a dressing room in their country home bathroom, this opens up a number of other pieces of country home bath furniture to be added to the dressing room. Again, softer older looking designs will probably suit the person who is interested in country home bath furniture. Dressing table and chair and the accompanying accessory pieces will be blended into a very nice overall look for this bathroom with country home bath furniture.

How To Give Your Dog A Bath

Bathing your dog helps to keep it healthy as well as clean. Bathing helps reduce the amount of flea repellents you need to use as well as prevents hotspots, a potentially serious problem for your best friend.

Bathing too frequently can dry out the skin and coat so only one bath a month is recommended by experts.

Brush the dog before giving it a bath. Be sure to get all tangles and matts out because the water will make it worse. If a comb or brush cannot remove all the matts use a conditioner or detangler if necessary.

Gather up what items you need before you start the bath: A brush, comb, collar and leash, shampoo, face cloth, and several towels.

If bathing the dog in the bathtub, use a safety mat. A hand held shower or pail for applying water and rinsing. Use a dog shampoo which is formulated for the pH of a dogs skin. Human shampoos can strip a dog's coat of essential oils.

Use warm, but not hot, water.

Avoid getting water and shampoo in the eyes and ears. Use a washcloth to wash the dogs face. Do not get water or soap in the eyes or ears!!

Be sure to rinse all the shampoo and conditioner off the dog. If you leave any of this on the dog, it will get itchy skin.

If using a tub, open the drain and let the water drain. To dry, put a towel over the head. Use another towel to dry off its back and legs. Then gently rub or pat with the towel. If your dog is long-haired don't rub vigorously because you can put mats back in the coat.

To finish use a blow dryer on the lowest setting and hold at a distance so the dog receives only warm air. Use a dryer only if your dog isn't afraid of the noise. To some dogs, the dryer is much worse than the bath.
